Most diabetics need long-term blood glucose monitoring and insulin injections,and they produce a large amount of sharps such as lancet and insulin needle,which brings great potential harm. Therefore,the standard disposal is very important. This paper reviews the current status and the influencing factors associated with sharps waste disposal practice outside health care facilities among patients with diabetes. Meanwhile,it summarizes the interventions that can promote patients to safely dispose of sharps waste. This paper aims to provide references for nursing staff to formulate the safety management measures of sharps waste,so as to standardize the disposal of sharps waste for patients with diabetes,and to reduce the occurrence of needle stick injuries.
